Inside Kiwa’s 2025 ESG Report

As part of Trace Magazine at Kiwa, we are exploring how organizations across industries are responding to sustainability challenges, working through evolving regulations, and toward a more sustainable future. At Kiwa, we're on that journey too.

As a trusted, independent global leader in Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC), our purpose is to help create a world that is safer, cleaner, and more sustainable. Every day, we support organizations in improving quality, safety, efficiency, and sustainability. At the same time, we continuously challenge ourselves to do the same within our own operations.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles are embedded throughout our organization. From reducing our environmental footprint and fostering safe workplaces to helping customers achieve their sustainability ambitions, our commitment extends across our business and the communities we serve.

That's why we're pleased to share our latest ESG Report, which highlights the progress we've made across our People, Planet, and Performance focus areas, as well as the ambitions that continue to drive us forward.

Preparing for the future

One of the most significant developments in 2025 was the continued advancement of our ESG governance and reporting framework. We strengthened our preparations for future Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requirements, reviewed our material ESG topics, and continued building the systems, processes, and data structures needed to support high-quality sustainability reporting.

Putting safety first

We also continued to make progress in creating a safer workplace for our colleagues. Safety remains a core priority across Kiwa, and 2025 saw a 13% improvement in our Total Recordable Case Frequency (TRCF) compared with the previous year. The global rollout of our Safe-T Impact app was completed, giving colleagues across the organization a shared platform to report, track, and learn from safety-related events.

Reducing our environmental impact

On the environmental front, we strengthened our greenhouse gas emissions reporting and continued implementing measures aimed at reducing our carbon footprint. Across the organization, initiatives such as renewable electricity adoption, fleet electrification, and improved emissions data collection support our long-term climate ambitions.

"The most meaningful sustainability progress happens when ambition becomes action. Every step forward, whether large or small, is driven by people who are committed to building a better future for the generations that follow".

CSRD Program Manager, Kiwa

Investing in our people

Our people remain at the core of everything we do. During 2025, we continued investing in leadership development, employee engagement, and fair pay initiatives. A new employee engagement survey achieved a participation rate of 71%, providing valuable feedback to help strengthen our culture and support colleagues across the business.

"I believe that the CSRD is not a purpose in itself. Rather, it provides a valuable framework that helps organizations gain deeper insights into how they do business and where they can improve. By transparently reporting on CSRD requirements, we can build trust with our customers and other stakeholders by demonstrating what we are doing and how we are progressing. Viewed in this way, the CSRD becomes more than a reporting obligation. It becomes a tool for creating value, strengthening transparency, and driving meaningful change."

Fostering responsible business practices

We also expanded our CSR Performance Ladder certifications, with France, Portugal, and Colombia achieving Level 3 certification during the year. This brought the total number of certified Kiwa countries to 22, further reinforcing our commitment to responsible business practices across our global organization.

Towards the future

While we are proud of the progress we've made, we know there is still more work to do. Sustainability requires continuous improvement, collaboration, and a willingness to keep learning. Our ESG Report reflects both how far we've come and where we aim to go next.

We invite you to explore Kiwa's ESG Report 2025 and learn more about our progress, achievements, and ambitions as we continue working toward a safer, cleaner, and more sustainable future.
