Part of the K21045 TIC Scheme
SCP02 is part of the K21045 Fire Protection Systems Test, Inspection and Certification (TIC) scheme. It defines the requirements for obtaining a product certificate for extinguishing systems for liquid fuels.
Why choose SCP02 certification?
- Demonstrates the effectiveness of fire suppression systems in pool fire scenarios
- Enables manufacturers to design systems for chemical storage safety
- Provides benchmarking for fire protection system performance
- Supports continuous improvement and innovation in fire safety solutions
How the Test Works
The test is conducted in a sufficiently airtight room. Doors and windows must be closed; however, a limited “open” area may be present, such as small gaps between walls and ceilings. Any forced ventilation system or device that affects the room’s airtightness must be switched off.
The test must be based on the exact calculation of grams per unit volume, as this determines the value specified by the supplier. No physical obstacles may be present in the room. The minimum performance requirement for this test involves a liquid pool fire of 2 m², using n-heptane as the test fluid. The energy produced by this fire is approximately 6 megawatts.
For full procedures and performance requirements, refer to the Specific Certification Program SCP02.
The test result is included in the annex of the product certificate. Based on this test, approval under the TIC scheme K21045 Fire Protection Systems is possible.

K21045 Fire Protection Systems
The K21045 Fire Protection Systems is the assessment scheme for testing, inspection and certification (TIC) of fixed fire protection systems. This scheme therefore focuses primarily on manufacturers, installers and maintenance companies and offers these parties the opportunity to deliver products and services with verifiably a high degree of quality assurance within the wide range of fixed fire protection systems. But end users also have an interest in a conclusive quality chain. The objective of this TIC scheme K21045 is to improve safety and security through uniform application of the relevant international standards relating to fire protection systems.

K21045 Fire Protection Systems
The K21045 Fire Protection Systems Assessment scheme is a scheme for Testing, Inspecting and Certification (TIC) Fire Protection Systems.
K21045 SCP01 Fire extinguishing generators based on the extinguishing medium nitrogen
The specific certification program ‘SCP01 N2 Generators’ focuses on fire suppression generators that use nitrogen as the extinguishing agent, also referred to as nitrogen generators based on a solid condensed compound. SCP01 is conducted under the TIC scheme ‘K21045 Fire Protection Systems’ and outlines the requirements Kiwa applies when issuing a product certificate for N2 fire suppression generators.
